The benefits of reading the Bible every day are too numerous to count!  As Christians, we should want to read the Bible on a daily basis.  Unfortunately, life gets in the way.  We all have excuses why we don’t study the Scriptures more, and most of them are valid (don’t have time, we’re too tired, too busy with kid’s activities, etc.).  In fact, one study by Statistica suggests only 11% of adults read the Bible every day.  Even though we may be busy or think we don’t have the time, it’s important for us to be deliberate in finding a way to spend time with God.  Joshua 1:8 reminds us to “…meditate on (the Book of the Law) day and night…”.  Below is a small list of benefits from reading the Bible every day.

We Gain Wisdom

"For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding." Proverbs 2: (NIV)

The Bible Gives Us Hope

"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.  They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Isaiah 40: 31 (NIV)

God's Word Brings Us joy

"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."  Romans 15:13 (NIV)

Your Faith Will Be Strengthened

Then Jesus said, "Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?”  John 11:40 (NIV)

Helps Us to Develop and Grow Spiritually

"So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness." Colossians 2: 6-7 (NIV)

We Are Encouraged

"May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had." Romans 15:5 (NIV)

We Are Reminded of God's Promises

"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10 (NIV)

Our hope with My Daily Bread is that you begin to form the habit of reading Scripture every day.  Hopefully it will help you strengthen your personal relationship with God.  If you get busy or are too tired to read your Bible one day, at least you will know you took a 30 second pause out of your busy day to read a Bible verse.  Maybe it’s enough to brighten your day, or maybe it can adjust your attitude where you can brighten somebody else’s day!

Imagine if you committed to taking only one minute out of your day to read the daily verse sent to your phone and then said a short prayer.  By the end of the year, you will have spent 6 extra hours reading Scripture and praying to God!  Not to mention the countless number of lives you will enrich by having 50% of your proceeds donated to a ministry of your choice!
